4 More
The Collicott clan is heading for vay-cay-shun next week. Just a heads-up: this blog might go silent for awhile. I'll try to post every now and then, but COME ON--IT'S VACATION!
No watch, no phone, no Crackberry, just my lovely wife, my fabulous kids and a stack of books! Well, and some sunscreen and my Gilligan hat.
Four more sleeps!

WOW
We're coming into the last night of VBS...it's been awesome!
Our summer students are hitting the ball out of the park, and the kids have been really having a blast. I'll try to have some pics posted here soon.

Be the Church. Get a t-shirt.
Excellent idea from Anne Jackson (Rockwall, Texas) on how to bless someone going through a tough time.

Wrestling
Well, this afternoon was the first in about two weeks I felt good enough to have a couple or rounds with Haley & Nahum. They're tough. When they work together I have a hard time getting the upper hand--and Nahum cheats when he has to. Haley just laughs.
I love being their dad.

Tony Morgan is my friend. Really.
This Facebook thing is getting out of control! If you had told me a month ago I would be friends with Tony Morgan I wouldn't have believed you.
But here's proof.

Mountain of Magic...
So, how have we been spending the summer, you ask? Wednesday we took 16 young people to Magic Mountain water park. The weather cooperated, the kids had a blast, and everybody made it back without getting sunburned and waterlogged.
We've been enjoying working with the youth this summer--they're awesome kids! We're looking for the right person to join our KWA team full-time and make disciples of our youth.
There's an expectancy in the air--a feeling that God is up to something new and tremendous at KWA. We're listening to Him and trying to stay in step with what He's saying.

Recovery Weekend

Well, my body has officially put up the white flag. I can't hack it like I used to. I desperately need some sleep...so until I can catch some ZZZs, here's the rundown:
Right now I'm catching up on things here in the office. Young Adults' are getting together at our house tonight @ 7pm. I'm working on a brain-busting Bible Study for us.
We finished up the Satan's SexEd series last night at church. I am amazed at the positive feedback from people of all ages who joined us for the series. It is so amazing how God's Word works in the hearts of anyone who'll listen and let Him inside!
Now the seeds have been planted, get ready for the harvest!
Last night some of the youth came over for pizza, and we had a blast trying to figure out who loves peaches and who doesn't (inside joke--you needed to be there.)
Heading to Magic Mountain with the youth this week! Kamikaze--here I come!!!

Jim & Casper Go To Church
I've been reading an EXCELLENT book (titled in the headline) about two friends (a Christian and an atheist) who take a road trip to visit several churches in the USA. They give some excellent insights on the image given to visitors and people outside the Church-circle. Good read!
Get the book here.

Camp Evangeline
Well, it's been quiet on the blog for awhile, so here's an update of what's been happening:
Gone to Debert, NS to attend the first week of Family Camp. Dave Slauenwhite and Van Johnson have been very amazing speakers! Got lots of mind fodder to ruminate... You'll probably see more of that here later on.
We're continuing our search for staff @ KWA. We're considering different options (do we bring in the best youth pastor we can find? or do we acquire an executive-type staff member? how about someone to focus on outreach? discipleship?...etc.)
I've been doing lots of reading lately. i find that summertime is the beat season for me to fill my mind and heart with the treasures of the written word. Our family goes into a type of media-fast for the summer, and this gives us more time to do stuff together, and read. Books are fun!
Planning youth events and meetings has been a blast.
Working with Heather, Katie & Jordan to assemble the upcoming VBS has been very rewarding. It's getting really exciting to see how everything is coming together.
Still working on assembling/interpreting the results of the church-wide survey. More to come on this, soon
It's been interesting working through our latest sermon series: Satan's SexEd. It's got people thinking, and talking, and considering God's will for this important area of their life. Thank you Jesus!
Getting things set for the Collicott vacation this summer!!!! Exciting times...
Hang in there. Come out Sunday night for the final part of Satan's SexEd series. We're going to examine how single adults can counter the popular teaching/attitudes about sex with God's directions for it.

Time Flies
WOW! What a weekend!
I really enjoyed the past few days here at KWA. There was an awesome guest speaker for our morning worship service: my lovely wife Heather! She shared from the Scriptures the principles for building a solid home, and touched on three relationships a man needs to build: 1) with God, 2) with his wife, and 3) with his children. There was some solid, solid meat there, and I've been chewing on what she said ever since.
I am so thankful for her, and I thank the Lord everyday for blessing me with such a woman of God!
We also celebrated Haley's 11th birthday, and visited Heather's folks in Moncton.
It seems like forever since I sat down to blog.

LeBron & Co.
Heather & I had a great debate this NBA season over what makes an MVP. I totally disagree with the choice of Dirk Nowitzki this season, pulling for Steve Nash's three-peat.
LeBron James gets some people's vote, and I don't really agree. He is an awesome player, but an MVP? Don't think so. He hasn't been able to pick up the Cavs and carry them to a victory in these finals.
All this got me thinking about leadership: are a leader's results limited by the supporting cast around him/her?
What do you think?

Fun in the Summer Sun
Finally the weather is getting warmer! We're gearing up for a busy summer, with youth activities, church stuff, SOUL FEST (www.thesoulfest.com/2007) and vacation.
We had our first night with the youth @ KWA last night--what an awesome bunch of kids! I haven't been around them much the last while, so I forgot what great young people they are. We're looking forward to spending the summer with them, including hauling them to Magic Mountain and Parlee Beach.
Reservations have been made for SOULFEST '07 in New Hampshire--it's going to be awesome!
We've booked some time for what has become our annual camping trip to southern Maine--yahoo! Can hardly wait.
